Friends

Yesterday James and I spent some time reflecting over our lives. We do this a lot. It keeps it real. We say this often but we both said it yesterday with lumps in our throats: We are so blessed with friends.

This is such a pivotal place in both our lives. We both have big birthdays coming up and James is retiring from a career of 35 plus years. We are so happy and fulfilled. We are surrounded by friends that are loyal. We have friends that would drop everything to come to our rescue. It has been said that friends are something you have a lot of until you need one. That is not true for us. So many times we carelessly throw out the word "friend" when we should say "acquaintance". We do have acquaintances, however, James and I are blessed with "FRIENDS". I have found that it does not take years for someone to become your friend. I believe you know the moment you get acquainted whether you are going to remain acquaintances or if you are going to be friends.

God has blessed me with girlfriends. I know James is happy about this. It lets him off the hook for so many things. James truly is my BEST friend but James does not like to shop for shoes and jewelry. So, I have my girlfriends for that.

I know I am rambling a bit. This morning my heart is full of joy because I feel loved. We have had a wonderful weekend full of activities with our friends. We have laughed, reflected and laughed more.

Thank You, Lord, for the friends you have blessed me with. Your Word teaches us to be friends. Your Word teaches me that YOU are my friend. You talk to me and You listen to me. You care for me and all that concerns me. I love You, Lord; not for what You have done for me but for WHO YOU ARE to me. You are my friend. Amen
