God is Who He says He is.
God can do what He says He can do.
I am who God says I am.
I can do all things through Christ
God's Word is alive and active in me.
All of the above statements are easy enough to say but we have to really believe them. I am going to do a series on my thoughts of the above "Five". I will be careful to share my thoughts while sharing some of Beth's insights. There are many women who read my blogs that are not able to attend Bible Study groups. I hope to share with you the Word of God and my prayer is it will bless you and encourage you.
Hang with me. These will not be long. I just want to take you on my journey with me as I explore the "Five" in my own thoughts and study.
The first one:
God is Who He Says He Is
In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1
I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.
Isaiah 46:9
I want to personalize "God is Who He Says He is" and say God is Who He says He is TO ME. The Word teaches me that I can test Him now and see . . . . . . . and I have many times. He is my Healer. He is the Lifter of my Head. His name is a strong tower that I can run into and be safe. He is the Lover of My Soul. He is my strength. He is my joy. He is my salvation.
One of my most favorite passages of scripture is Psalm 139. Read it for yourself. Here are some of my thoughts on the passage.
He KNOWS me. He knew me in my mother's womb. He knew me before the foundations of the earth. He was there in the secret place when I was conceived. He KNOWS me. He gazed on me with familiar affection while I was in my mother's womb. He fashioned me.
Millions and Billions of dollars have been spent on our space program. NASA is one of the most amazing places to visit and explore -- your tax dollars at work!! Our nation spends Billions of dollars to explore and understand something that God just flung into space. I don't think God put a whole lot of thought and planning into the stars and yet he knows exactly how many there are and we ". . .shine like stars. . . " (Philippians 2:15). Psalm 139 teaches us that HE "fashioned" us. I love this. He took time with ME. He fashioned me. He did not just fling me into existence. He KNEW me already and had plans for me (Jeremiah 29:11).
In our Bible Study, Beth points out this scripture comparitively with Psalm 139:
Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself.
Philippians 3:21Oh, how cool is that. He fashioned me in my mother's womb and He will fashion me in Glory.
My prayer today is from Psalm 139:
Lord, I thank You for searching me and knowing me. You know when I rise and when I lay down and You know my thoughts. You encompass me when I am upright and when I am laying down. You know all of my ways. There is not one thing I say that You are not aware of. You have been behind me and You go before me. You have laid Your hand on me. My knowledge of You is wonderful and too high for me to comprehend -- my mind cannot fathom. No matter where I am I have Your divine presence with me. Your hand leads me and Your hand holds me. If darkness covers me, You bring light. Light and dark are but the same to You. You covered me in my mother's womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are marvellous. My soul knows this well. Nothing was hid from You when I was made. You fashioned me. Your thoughts toward me are precious and there are many of them. Your thoughts of me are more than the grains of sand. When I awake You are with me. You protect me from my enemy. I am saddened by those who speak against You -- they are my enemies. Oh, my precious Lord, search me and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts. If there is any sin in me, forgive it and lead me in Your everlasting way.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
