In my distress
I cried unto the Lord
and he heard me.
Psalm 120:1
(KJV)
Most mornings (before 7:00) you will find me in my backyard and on the deck. I have my first sip of coffee, set my cup on grill (safely out of Lexi's reach), turn on the water hose and begin watering my flower beds and pot plants.
This morning as I was watering, I thought to myself: "I know we have a sprinkler system but sometimes my flowers just look like they just want a sip right on top." Our sprinkler system does a fine job of keeping the root system wet but sometimes they just need a little sip on the top.
And so it is with me. I have so much of God's Word in me. It's like a sprinkler system. It keeps my roots wet and healthy. But in these hot days of my life, I just need a little sip on the top. I need to be misted. I need to be given some attention.
Lord, I love you. You are so good and faithful to me. Your love and Your faithfulness will endure forever. I thank You that I have committed Your Word to my heart and You have ordered my steps in Your Word. But, today, Lord, I just need a sip. Mist me. Touch me. Give me some attention. Amen
