where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1&2 (NIV)
Sometimes I think I forget the awesomeness of God. I do not really forget it, I believe I just cannot fathom His vast supply. He does not just have supply, He has surplus. AND, it is not just monetarily. God MADE heaven AND earth. My help comes from THE God who created heaven and earth. He has supply for ALL my need: physically, spiritually, financially, mentally, emotionally. There is nothing that I have need of that He is not already there, ready to supply. He made it -- it is HIS to give.
Girlfriends are great and I love my girls. They are always there to give me wonderful words of encouragement. However, nothing is as helpful and fulfilling as the Word of God. I love what the Word says in Hebrews 12: 24 (NIV):
" . . . to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant . . .
that speaks a better word . . . "
He truly DOES "speak a better word". When life is life, and it always is, go to the Word -- He will always "speak a better word".

I think a lot of us struggle with what "getting in the word" really looks like. You know? It sounds so "christian" when I hear "get in the word"! I often struggle to even know what to read when I go there. Even right now I am struggling to keep myself in His word. Many times we read it and are not sure about what we just read. But the amazing thing is how God meets us right where we are at and even if we don't get it, the Spirit within us does.
Just thinking outloud.
